Grasonville Man Found in Locked Bedroom After Repeated 911 Calls
Queen Anne's County, MD - On September 29, 2026, the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Ewing Pond Park in Grasonville, MD for a 911 open line call. The call ended with a local man under arrest and facing seven charges.
While a deputy was on the way, dispatchers said a man was on the phone. He told them he was in danger and that someone was threatening his life.
When the deputy got there, a second call came in from a nearby home. A woman reported that a man she did not know, with no shoes on, had been trying to climb over her gate. She said he then left on foot down Main Street.
Deputies began searching the area. During that time, the man kept calling 911 over and over, but he could not tell dispatchers where he was.
To find him, a ping was done on his cell phone. The ping gave deputies a rough idea of where he was.
Deputies went to the home where the ping was coming from and spoke with the homeowner. She told them a bedroom door that is usually unlocked was now locked.
Deputies went into the room and found the caller inside. He was identified as Eber Contreras-Lopez, 37, of Grasonville, MD, and was taken into custody.
According to the sheriff's office, Contreras-Lopez admitted he was under the influence. He told deputies he believed people were chasing him, and that he went into the home without permission.
Deputies looked into his claim that he was being chased. They could not find any evidence to support his story.
Contreras-Lopez was placed under arrest and charged with fourth-degree burglary, trespassing on private property, intoxicated public disturbance, and making a false statement to a police officer. He also faces charges of disturbing the peace with loud noise, disorderly conduct, and obstructing and hindering a police officer.
