Grays Corner Road in Berlin to Close for Repaving
Berlin, MD - Drivers in Berlin will need to find another way around next week. Part of MD 707, also known as Grays Corner Road, will be closed for two days so the road can get a fresh new surface.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration shared the plan on Thursday, October 8. The closed section runs from MD 589 (Racetrack Road) to Riddle Lane.
The road will close at 8 a.m. on Monday, October 12. The goal is to have it open again by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, as long as the weather cooperates.
This is a Worcester County project. The county's Department of Public Works is handling the resurfacing, and the state is closing the road so crews can work safely.
The work will be done by Groundwork Solutions, Inc., a contractor based in Berlin, MD. Crews will be out from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day until the job is finished.
Drivers will be sent along a detour to US 50 (Ocean Gateway). Atlantic Traffic Safety, Inc., another Berlin company, will set up message signs, arrow boards, and cones to help guide traffic along the way.
If you travel this road for work, school, or errands, plan for some extra time on Monday and Tuesday. Delays are expected on MD 707 while the closure is in place.
State highway officials said they know detours can be a hassle for some drivers. They added that work like this is needed to keep roads safe and reliable.
If you run into car trouble while on the road, you can dial #77 on your cell phone for roadside help.
