House Fire Displaces Family in Caroline County, Cause Under Investigation
Caroline County, MD - A house fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the Ridgely area of Caroline County, leaving three people without a home.
The fire was reported at 1:51 p.m. on May 1, 2026, on the 12600 block of Oakland Road. The home is described as a one-story, wood frame, single-family dwelling with an attached garage.
The fire was discovered by one of the occupants. Investigators have determined the fire started on the exterior of the attached garage, but the cause is still under investigation.
The Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. A total of 43 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control, and they did so in about 45 minutes.
Smoke alarms were present in the home and activated during the fire. Fire officials also provided the family with additional smoke alarms following the incident.
Three occupants were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross is currently assisting them.
