Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico Recreation & Parks is bringing back one of its most popular summer events for families in the area. The free "Just Try It" event returns on Thursday, May 28, giving kids a chance to explore new sports with no pressure and no commitment.

The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at Billy Gene Jackson Sr. Park in Salisbury. Children ages 3 to 11 are encouraged to come out and give several different sports a try.

This year's event will feature basketball, pickleball, flag football and disc golf. Each sport will be led by a local organization or special guest, including the Wicomico Youth Basketball League, Delmarva Pickleball, Parkside High School Football and Team USA Captain Kevin Gleason representing disc golf.

Representatives from each group will run short clinics throughout the evening. Kids will get hands-on time with each sport and learn the basics in a fun, low-key setting.

Recreation Program Specialist Randy McFadden said the goal is simple. "We want to give children a chance to try a sport before committing to a full season," he said. "Just Try It provides an opportunity for parents and children to come out, have fun trying a variety of sports and then decide if they want to sign up for a full season."

The event is completely free to attend. Families can also expect music, giveaways and information about Wicomico Recreation & Parks' scholarship opportunities on site.

Staff from each participating organization will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and share details about upcoming programs and seasonal sign-ups.

Preregistration is recommended. Families can register online at www.WicomicoRecandParks.org.
