Kia Forte Catches Fire After Crash on Wesley Road

Hurlock, MD - A vehicle fire broke out early Saturday morning in the Wesley Road in Hurlock, Maryland according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. on July 4, 2026.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office discovered the fire and alerted fire crews. The vehicle involved was a Kia Forte.

According to officials, the car ran off the roadway and struck a tree. That collision caused severe damage to the front end and engine compartment, which led to the fire.

The Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. Seven firefighters worked to bring the fire under control, and it took about 10 minutes to do so.

Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $10,000. No further details were released about injuries or the driver involved.
