Kitchen Fire Damages Salisbury Home, Owner Escapes Safely

Salisbury, MD - On September 15, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., the City of Salisbury Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 600 block of Hammond Street in Salisbury, Maryland. The home is a single story, single family house.

Fire officials say the blaze started in the kitchen. The homeowner escaped through a window during the fire. The American Red Cross is now assisting the homeowner.

Damage to the home is estimated at $40,000. The home did not have a working smoke alarm at the time of the fire.

One alarm was raised in response to the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Salisbury Fire Marshal's Office.
