Laurel Man Charged After Hidden Camera Found in Restroom
Laurel, DE - On September 8, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers with the Laurel Police Department responded to a business in the 200 block of East Front Street. An employee had reported finding a hidden camera inside the employee restroom.
When officers arrived, they found and secured a small camera. It had allegedly been hidden on a shelf near the toilet, out of plain view.
Officers began investigating right away and spoke with employees at the business. During that investigation, they identified Anil Weiler, 41, of Florida, as the alleged owner of the camera.
Based on what investigators learned, Laurel Police obtained an arrest warrant for Weiler. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Violation of Privacy, a Class G felony.
Weiler was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 3. He was released on a $3,000 unsecured bond, and a no-contact order was issued.
The Laurel Police Department says it takes privacy violation allegations seriously. Officers remain committed to fully investigating these cases and protecting anyone who may have been victimized.
