Law Enforcement Investigates Early Morning Burglary
Salisbury, MD - Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office are investigating a burglary that took place on Beaglin Park Drive in Salisbury, Maryland in the early morning hours, when a female resident woke up to find a stranger standing at the foot of her bed.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect and asking the public for help.
According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the suspect is described as an African American male, standing roughly 6'2" to 6'3" tall. He was wearing black sweatpants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a blue surgical mask. He also had dreadlock-style hair.
Once the resident confronted him, the suspect quickly fled the bedroom. He escaped through a first-floor sliding glass door. Deputies say there were no signs of forced entry, and they believe he may have entered the home through that same unlocked door.
After the suspect left, the resident's purse was found outside near the sliding glass door. At the time of the report, it wasn't clear if anything had actually been taken from the home.
Investigators are still working to determine what, if anything, is missing.
Deputies processed both the sliding glass door and the purse for potential DNA evidence. They also canvassed the surrounding neighborhood looking for witnesses or additional clues. So far, no new leads have come from that search.
This case is a good reminder for everyone in our community to double-check their homes before bed. The Sheriff's Office is urging residents to make sure all doors and windows are locked every night. They also ask that neighbors report any suspicious activity right away, since a quick call can make a real difference.
