Wicomico County, MD - On the afternoon of April 4, 2026, emergency personnel responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 10000 block of Sharptown Road in Mardela Springs, Wicomico County, Maryland. The incident, which was reported at approximately 2:45 PM, involved a Bad Boy brand zero-turn lawnmower.

The lawnmower was being used to cut a ditch when it became stuck in a soft area. Preliminary investigations determined that the fire was accidental.

It was caused by the lawnmower's hot exhaust having prolonged exposure to dry grass while the operator was attempting to free the equipment.

His injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Six firefighters from the Mardela Springs Volunteer Fire Company responded to the single-alarm incident. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes.
