Lewes Man Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges
Sussex County, DE - On September 10, 2026, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and the Sussex County Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at a home on the 30000 block of Pinetown Road in Lewes.
The warrant came after an investigation into 46-year-old Christopher Smith of Lewes for selling illegal drugs out of the home.
Smith was detained during the search without incident. It should be noted that a child was in the home at the time of the search warrant.
Troopers searched the residence and found several items. Among them were a .22 caliber handgun with ammunition, 12-gauge ammunition, and about 11.60 grams of crack cocaine.
Troopers also found digital scales, a Pyrex container with white residue, and drug paraphernalia. Along with those items, they found $1,052 in suspected drug proceeds.
Smith was arrested and taken to Troop 4. He faces several felony charges tied to the firearms and drugs found in the home.
Those charges include possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possessing a deadly weapon as a person prohibited who also has a controlled substance.
He also faces two counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition as a person prohibited due to a prior violent crime or felony.
Additional charges include manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with unlawfully operating a clandestine laboratory and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Smith was also charged with unlawfully dealing with a child, for allowing a child to remain in a place where drug activity was happening.
Smith was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and committed to the Department of Correction. His bond was set at $46,000, secured.
