Lincoln Man Arrested After Pursuit, Crash Near Milton

Sussex County, DE - On September 13, 2026, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to Coastal Highway near Deep Branch Road after a trooper spotted a speeding Maserati Levante.

The trooper tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away instead of stopping. The Maserati drove recklessly at a high rate of speed through several area roads before crashing into a Nissan Rogue at Union Street Extended and Coastal Highway.

After the crash, the driver ran from the scene. Troopers say he was seen throwing away about 60.76 grams of cocaine as he ran, and he was caught a short time later without further incident.

Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Jaquell McDonald, of Lincoln.

During a search of the Maserati, troopers found about 46.75 grams of marijuana, $5,696 in suspected drug proceeds, and fake driver's licenses from Arizona and Nevada.

The driver and passenger in the Nissan, a 65-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, both from Pennsylvania, suffered minor injuries. Both refused transport to the hospital.

The roadway was closed for an extended time while police investigated and cleared the scene. McDonald was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

After being released from the hospital, McDonald was taken to Troop 7. He was charged, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on $75,514 cash bond.

McDonald faces several felony charges. These include possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance, tier 3 quantity, and a separate charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

He is also charged with attempting to tamper with physical evidence, disregarding a police officer's signal, and two counts of vehicular assault in the third degree.

Additional charges include possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple pursuit and crash related traffic violations.
