Man Arrested After Shots Fired in Easton, MD

Talbot County, MD - On July 29, 2026, the Easton Police Department responded to the 100 block of Blake Street in Easton, Maryland, for a report of shots fired.

While on scene, officers learned that a shooting victim had already been dropped off at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton for treatment.

Officers made contact with an adult male at the hospital who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. Detectives began working to identify the shooter.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Kyjae Curtis-Melice Matthews, 24, of Cambridge, Maryland. Matthews was placed under arrest.

Matthews faces charges of first degree assault, second degree assault, handgun violations, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held without bond pending a court appearance.
