Man Arrested Following Roadside Assault and Robbery on Commerce Drive

Easton, MD - On March 31, 2026, officers of the Easton Police Department arrested 44-year-old James D. Shacochis Jr. of Federalsburg, Maryland. The arrest was conducted with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Shacochis was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant. He was charged with robbery, second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property, and theft between $100 and $1,500. Following the arrest, he was released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 29, 2025. At approximately 10:42 a.m., Easton Police officers responded to a reported assault in the 8600 block of Commerce Drive in Easton.

Officers met with a 67-year-old victim upon arrival. The victim stated that a black truck displaying a company logo stopped in front of them in the middle of the roadway.

The driver, later identified as Shacochis, exited the truck and approached the victim's car.

The suspect began to yell at the victim. The victim obtained a phone and started to record the interaction. Shacochis then pulled the victim out of the vehicle. The victim was punched in the face and kicked in the ribs and ankle.

Shacochis took the victim's phone, stomped on it, and left the scene with the device.

Officers observed injuries on the victim that were consistent with the reported assault.
