Man Charged After Pointing Gun at Driver on Kraft Road
Queen Anne's County, MD - On October 23, 2026, at approximately 10:11 p.m., the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff responded to the area of Kraft Road and Fairview Drive in Chestertown, Maryland, for a weapons complaint. A man is now facing five charges after deputies say he pointed a handgun at the people in another car.
The man has been identified as Frank Hughes Jr. The people in the other car told deputies what happened. They said they were driving on Kraft Road when they came up on a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road.
They flashed their headlights to try to get the driver's attention. Deputies say the driver then backed into a nearby driveway.
From there, the driver pulled out and turned his vehicle sideways across the road. That blocked the way for the other car.
The driver then got out of his vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. He's accused of pointing a gun toward the people in the other car.
Deputies were able to find the man, who they identified as Hughes. Deputies say Hughes admitted to pointing the gun in the other driver's direction.
Hughes was placed under arrest. The sheriff's office listed five charges and citations against Hughes. The most serious are first degree assault and using a firearm in a felony crime. Hughes is also charged with second degree assault and reckless endangerment. The last charge listed is having a handgun on his person.
