Queen Anne's County, MD - On October 16, 2026, at approximately 12:46 a.m., a Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office corporal came upon a man lying in the roadway at the roundabout on Castle Marina Road in Chester, Maryland. The man was later charged after deputies say he kicked one of them in the face at a nearby hospital.

The subject has been identified as Aidan Demma. Demma now faces five charges and citations.

Corporal Betts was driving into the roundabout when he saw someone lying in the middle of the road. He stopped his patrol car and got out to help.

The corporal also called for an ambulance. Emergency medical crews were sent to the scene.

Deputies were able to learn the man's name while they were there. He was identified as Aidan Demma. Demma was taken to a hospital to be checked out. Deputies went with him because of the condition he was in.

While medical staff were caring for him, Demma's behavior did not stop. Deputies say they had to put him in handcuffs so the staff could keep treating him.

Deputies say Demma tried to get out of his hospital bed. During that time, he kicked Deputy First Class Holden in the face. The kick landed near the deputy's eye.

Deputies placed Demma under arrest after the kick. The sheriff's office listed the charges and citations that followed.

The most serious charge is second degree assault on a law enforcement officer. Demma also faces a charge of disorderly conduct. He was cited for being intoxicated and putting safety in danger. He was also cited for causing a public disturbance while intoxicated. The last charge listed is failing to obey a reasonable and lawful order.

The sheriff's office did not say how badly Deputy First Class Holden was hurt or if he needed treatment.

Demma was released on his own recognizance.
