Man Found with Illegal Narcotics on Elm Street After Officers Notice Suspicious Behavior
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge man was charged with drug possession last week after officers spotted him behaving unusually on a city street.
At approximately 5:08 p.m. on April 25, 2026, Cambridge Police Department officers were on patrol in the 500 block of Elm Street when they noticed a man whose actions and behavior suggested he may be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Officers approached the man and made contact with him. He was identified as Johnny Mack Jenkins, 58, of Cambridge, Maryland.
During the welfare check, Jenkins gave officers consent to search him. That search turned up a smoking device and crack cocaine.
Jenkins was issued criminal citations and released at the scene. He was charged with CDS Possession Not Cannabis and CDS Possession Paraphernalia.
This incident serves as a reminder that Cambridge police officers are actively patrolling city streets and paying close attention to what is happening in our neighborhoods. A routine patrol led directly to this arrest.
