MD 362 Resurfacing Project Coming to Somerset County
Somerset County, MD - Drivers who use Mount Vernon Road in Somerset County should plan for some delays over the next few months. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) announced on October 19, 2026, that crews will repave part of MD 362.
The work covers the stretch of MD 362 between Fitzbound Road and Crisfield Lane. Crews could get started as early as Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
If the weather cooperates, SHA expects the project to be finished by late December 2026. Bad weather could push that date back.
While the work is going on, one lane will be closed during the day. These lane closures will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
With only one lane open while crews are working, traffic may move slower than usual. SHA is asking drivers to leave a little earlier and give themselves extra time to get where they are going.
The paving is being handled by George and Lynch, Inc., a contractor based in Dover, Delaware. The company is working on the project for SHA.
To help guide traffic safely, crews will set up cones and arrow boards along the work zone. Flaggers will also be on site to direct drivers through the area.
