MDTA Officer Hurt in US 50 Crash in Queen Anne's County
Queen Anne's County, MD - A Maryland Transportation Authority Police officer is recovering after a serious crash on US 50 in Queen Anne's County Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. near the westbound US 50 at MD 8, also known as Exit 37. An MDTA Police Motor Officer was responding to a call for service when his motorcycle was struck by a white Hyundai Accent.
The officer was airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Shock Trauma is the state's top trauma center and handles some of the most critical injuries in Maryland.
The driver of the Hyundai Accent stayed at the scene following the crash.
The MDTA Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is now leading the investigation. This specialized unit handles serious crash investigations and works to piece together exactly how accidents like this one happen.
