Sussex County, MD - A Millsboro man is behind bars after Delaware State Police say he forced his way into the home of an 83-year-old woman and pointed a gun at her while demanding to find someone inside.

Robert Berry, 44, was arrested on May 28, 2026, and charged with multiple felonies connected to a home invasion that happened nearly two weeks earlier in Georgetown.

According to police, troopers were called to the 24000 block of Lawson Road at around 10:30 a.m. on May 15, 2026. A home security vendor had reported a panic alarm activation at the address.

When troopers arrived, they learned that the elderly victim had opened her front door and an unknown male suspect forced his way inside. He pointed a handgun at her and demanded to see another person he believed was in the home.

The victim managed to lock herself in a bedroom and triggered her panic alarm while the suspect searched through the rest of the residence. He then left in an unknown direction. The victim was not physically injured.

Detectives worked the case and identified Berry as the suspect through their investigation. They obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Berry was taken to Troop 4 after his arrest, where he was formally charged and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was then sent to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $166,000 cash bond.

He faces the following charges, all felonies:

Attempt to Commit Robbery in the First Degree, Home Invasion Burglary in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession or Control of a Firearm by a Person Previously Convicted of Two Violent Felonies on Separate Occasions, and Aggravated Menacing.
