Millsboro Man Charged After Long Neck Stabbing, Chase

Sussex County, DE - On September 12, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to The Crab Barn at 32600 Long Neck Road for a reported stabbing. Troopers learned a 44-year-old man had been stabbed during a disagreement over a seat at the bar.

The suspect was identified as Douglas Clay, 67, of Millsboro. The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Before troopers arrived, Clay left the scene on a motorcycle. A short time later, troopers spotted him traveling northbound on Indian Mission Road.

Troopers tried to pull Clay over, but he sped away. He drove at a high rate of speed on several area roads before coming to a stop in Milton, where he was taken into custody.

Clay was taken to an area hospital for a medical issue. While troopers were with him, they noticed signs of impairment.

After being released from the hospital, Clay was taken to Troop 7. He was charged with the following offenses.

Assault 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, 4th Offense DUI, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Resisting Arrest, and multiple pursuit related traffic offenses.

Clay was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace. He was committed to the Department of Correction on a $129,018 cash bond.
