Newark Tutor Charged With Abusing Child Online

State of DE - In May 2026, the New Castle County Division of Police opened an investigation into an indecent exposure case involving 59-year-old Rodney Little, of the unit block of Fairway Road in Newark, Delaware.

The investigation started after a juvenile's parents reported that their child's online tutor exposed himself during a tutoring session. Detectives from the Division's Criminal Investigations Unit took over the case because of the nature of the allegations.

Detectives got a video recording of the tutoring session between Little and the victim. The video showed Little leaving his seat while staying in view of the camera, wearing a shirt but no pants, which left him exposed to the child. The victim was under 12 years old at the time.

Investigators learned that Little had worked as an independent contractor for an online tutoring platform since 2014. Once the platform learned of the allegations, it suspended him right away.

The tutoring platform then gave investigators more video recordings. Those recordings showed Little doing the same thing with other victims.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, police took Little into custody at his home and brought him to New Castle County Police Headquarters. He was charged with two felony counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust in the Second Degree and two felony counts of Indecent Exposure in the First Degree.

Little was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2. He is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after he could not post $52,000 cash bail.

Detectives are working to find out if there are more victims. Because the tutoring platform does not keep video recordings for very long, investigators believe other children may have had sessions with Little and have not yet come forward.
