Ocean City Mayor and Council Race Set for November 3, 2026
Ocean City, MD - Voters in Ocean City will choose a mayor and fill three seats on the Town Council this fall. The Town of Ocean City shared the plan for Election Day, along with how to get a mail-in ballot and a free ride to the polls.
The town's Municipal Election falls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the same day as the Gubernatorial Election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City.
Registered Ocean City voters can cast a ballot in both elections. Each election is run separately, so voters will visit two different halls inside the convention center.
The Municipal Election will be in Hall A, and the Gubernatorial Election will be in Hall B. Voters need to sign in at both the municipal registration desk and the federal/state registration desk that day.
Two candidates are running for mayor. They are Matt James and Rick Meehan.
Four candidates are running for the three open council seats. They are Billy Apostolou, Wayne Johnson, Larry Noccolino, and Carol Proctor.
Voters who would rather vote by absentee, or mail-in, ballot need to apply first. The deadline to turn in an application is 4:30 p.m. on November 2, 2026.
Applications can be picked up at City Hall or found online at https://oceancitymd.gov/oc/departments/city-clerk/election/.
Completed applications can be dropped off at City Hall or mailed to the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Ocean City, c/o the Office of the City Clerk, 301 N. Baltimore Avenue, Ocean City, Maryland 21842.
Getting to the polls will not cost a thing for bus riders. The town is making bus and ADA service free for everyone on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.
The Coastal Highway Beach Bus will come by every 30 minutes. ADA service is open to qualified riders during the same hours the Beach Bus runs. Rides must be requested ahead of time, no later than 4 p.m. the day before.
Riders heading to the convention center have a few close stops to choose from. Southbound riders can use the Coastal Highway stop at 41st Street, and northbound riders can use the stops at 39th Street and 42nd Street.
