Ocean City Police Host National Night Out Aug. 4

Ocean City, MD - The Ocean City Police Department is inviting the community to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Northside Park's West Lagoon Field, located at 200 125th Street.

National Night Out is a nationwide event held each year to build stronger ties between law enforcement and the communities they serve. In Ocean City, it gives residents and visitors a chance to meet the officers, firefighters, and emergency workers who keep the town running safely.

"National Night Out is about bringing people together," said Chief Raymond J. Austin. "Whether you're a year-round resident, a visitor, a member of our business community, or one of the many international students who spend their summer working in Ocean City, we want everyone to feel welcome. Strong partnerships and open communication are what help keep Ocean City a safe and vibrant community."

Several agencies will be on hand for the event. That includes the Ocean City Police Department, Ocean City Fire Department, Fire Marshal's Office, Emergency Services, Quick Response Team, Forensic Services Unit, Mounted Unit, and K-9 Unit. The Worcester County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, and the United States Coast Guard will also take part.

Community partners will be there too. TidalHealth Atlantic, the Worcester County Health Department, OC Elks Lodge, and the Worcester County Child Advocacy Center plan to share resources with attendees. Kona Ice will be serving frozen treats throughout the evening.

This year, the Ocean City Police Department is partnering with the Summer Workforce Community to host its annual Exchange Day for J-1 students during the event. The day celebrates the international students who live and work in Ocean City each summer. Visitors can stop by the Summer Workforce Community booth to try a soccer skills challenge, with donations accepted to benefit Diakonia on behalf of the J-1 program.

Guests can expect a full lineup of activities throughout the evening. There will be meet-and-greets with first responders, along with police, fire, and emergency vehicle displays. The Bomb Squad, K-9 team, Mounted Unit, and drone operators are all expected to give demonstrations, and information will be available on the Citizens Police Academy and CERT program. Families can also enjoy tug-of-war, cornhole, and other games, along with giveaways for children.

Organizers say the event is for anyone with an interest in public safety, a curiosity about a law enforcement career, or just a fun night out with the family. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and spend the evening with neighbors while celebrating the partnerships that help keep Ocean City safe.
