Ocean City Special Election Set for April 21, 2026

Ocean City, MD - The Town of Ocean City will hold a municipal special election on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Voting will take place at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in the Dockside Exhibit Hall, located at 4001 Coastal Highway.

One Ocean City Council seat will be filled in the special election. The candidates are Peter Buas and Jeff Heiser.

Voters who plan to cast an absentee ballot must submit a completed application by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026. Applications may be dropped off at City Hall or mailed to the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Ocean City, c/o the Office of the City Clerk, 301 N. Baltimore Avenue, Ocean City, Maryland 21842. Absentee ballot applications are available online at https://oceancitymd.gov/oc/departments/city-clerk/2026-special-election/.

Applications may also be completed in person at City Hall, where voters can receive a ballot.

Free bus service will be available for all riders on Special Election Day. The no-fare policy for buses and ADA service will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. The Coastal Highway "Beach Bus" will run every 30 minutes. ADA service will be available to qualified individuals during the same hours, but 24-hour advanced trip reservations are required.

Bus stops nearest the Ocean City Convention Center are located on southbound Coastal Highway at 41st Street and on northbound Coastal Highway at 39th Street and 42nd Street. Additional transportation information is available from Ocean City Transportation at 410-723-1606 or at www.oceancitymd.gov.
