Ocean City Special Event Zone Starts Oct. 6, 2026 for Cruisin'

Ocean City, MD - The Town of Ocean City will be a Special Event Zone from Tuesday, October 6, through Sunday, October 11, 2026. The zone is in place for the Endless Summer Cruisin' Ocean City car event.

Thousands of car enthusiasts are expected to visit the resort town next week. The Ocean City Police Department says it is taking steps now to keep everyone safe.

Inside the zone, speed limits will be lower and fines will be higher. The maximum speed within the town limits is 30 mph, unless a residential area has a lower posted limit.

A law signed in 2020 allows stronger penalties for certain motor vehicle violations. Much like a construction zone, drivers could face higher fines or even arrest, depending on how serious the offense is.

People should expect to see a lot of police during the event. Officers from the Ocean City Police Department, Maryland State Police and Worcester County Sheriff's Office will enforce all traffic laws.

Heavy traffic is expected, and traffic patterns may change at times throughout the weekend. Drivers may want to plan extra time to get where they are going.

The Town of Ocean City has also passed Resolution 2026-04. It sets higher paid parking rates and stronger parking penalties during special events.

These parking rules will be in effect from Thursday, October 8, through Sunday, October 11, 2026. The goal is to help manage the larger crowds and support public safety.

The tougher parking penalties focus on prohibited areas. This includes spots with no-parking signs, red curbs, fire hydrants and sidewalks. Police say this will help traffic flow, parking compliance and enforcement when crowds are big.

Police are asking spectators to keep sidewalks clear for people walking. They also ask that spectators not encourage drivers to spin their tires or do burnouts. Police say these actions are dangerous and illegal.

Officers will enforce the law against drivers and against spectators who encourage reckless behavior.

With many people on foot, police encourage everyone to walk smart. Use marked crosswalks, wait for the signal to change, and make sure drivers see you before you cross.
