Ocean View, DE - The Ocean View Police Department has received Elite Status in the 2025 Lexipol Readiness Recognition Program, the highest level of recognition the program offers. The department earned this distinction in both Policy Management and Training.

Lexipol is a national organization that works with public safety agencies to develop and maintain policies and training programs. Elite Status goes to agencies that demonstrate strong commitment to keeping their policies current, holding employees accountable, and delivering quality training.

The Ocean View Police Department joins a select group of law enforcement and public safety agencies across the country that have met this standard. It is not a recognition that agencies receive automatically. It requires consistent effort in policy development, policy review, policy acknowledgment, and ongoing professional training.

Good policies and reliable training matter in policing. They help officers stay current with changes in the law, new best practices, and the challenges that come with serving the public.

They also support transparency and accountability, two things communities expect from their police departments.

Chief Kenneth McLaughlin credited the people who make up the department for the recognition. "This recognition is a direct reflection of the professionalism and dedication of every member of the Ocean View Police Department," he said. "Our officers and staff work hard every day to maintain the highest standards of training, policy compliance, and public service. I am extremely proud of their efforts and grateful for their commitment to protecting and serving the residents and visitors of Ocean View."

The department said it will continue to focus on improvement and on delivering professional police services to the Ocean View community.
