Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County's newest library just got a big boost. PKS & Company has donated $35,000 to help build a children's indoor play structure at the future Paul S. Sarbanes Library at Schumaker Pond. The gift will fund a custom-built space where kids can explore, learn, and take part in hands-on activities.

PKS is a Certified Public Accounting firm and Registered Investment Advisor serving the Delmarva region. The firm has deep roots in Salisbury, where it was founded back in 1978.

"At PKS, we believe that strong communities are built through meaningful investments in education, access, and opportunity," said Dan O'Connell, CEO & Managing Partner at PKS. "As a firm founded in Salisbury in 1978, we have witnessed firsthand the strength and generosity of this region and are honored to join other community partners in helping make this transformative project a reality."

O'Connell added that the donation reflects the firm's broader mission in the community.

"Investing in spaces that foster education, curiosity, and connection aligns with our commitment to helping our community succeed. We are proud to play a role in bringing this exciting vision to life."

The play structure will be curated by the library's children's staff, giving young visitors a dedicated area built just for them. It's one of several community-funded features planned for the new library space.

Organizers behind the project say the support from local businesses like PKS has been essential. "We couldn't be more grateful to these key members of our Delmarva community for their generous donation, helping us create exciting new features that take full advantage of the forthcoming library."

The Paul S. Sarbanes Library at Schumaker Pond continues to take shape as more community partners step forward to help fund its features. Stay tuned to Eastern Shore Undercover for updates as the project moves closer to completion.
