Pocomoke City Set to Begin Enhanced Parking Enforcement in May 2026
Pocomoke, MD - The City of Pocomoke has announced that enhanced enforcement of municipal parking regulations will begin on May 1, 2026. This initiative is being coordinated with the Pocomoke City Police Department. The effort is designed to improve traffic flow, ensure emergency access, and maintain safe public spaces for residents, businesses, and visitors. Vehicles found in violation of city parking ordinances will be subject to citation. Strict enforcement will be applied to a variety of specific parking infractions. These include parking opposite the flow of traffic, parking in posted no-parking zones, double parking, and parking on a yellow line. Furthermore, citations will be issued to vehicles blocking private, business, or public entrances. Additional enforcement will target vehicles standing, parking, or stopping on sidewalks. Similar penalties will be applied to vehicles located within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or in marked fire lanes. Vehicles parked in handicapped zones or designated accessible spaces will also be strictly monitored. All other violations set forth in Chapter 220 of the City Code will be enforced accordingly. City officials encourage all motorists to review local parking regulations. Drivers are advised to comply with posted signage to avoid penalties. The City of Pocomoke appreciates the cooperation of the public in helping to maintain safe and orderly streets.
