Cambridge, MD - On Monday, October 5, 2026, at approximately 11:33 p.m., the Cambridge Police Department responded to the area of Meadow Street Park in Cambridge, Maryland, for a report of shots fired. No one was reported hurt, and police are now asking the community for help.

Officers were sent to the park after several ShotSpotter alerts went off in the area. ShotSpotter uses sensors to pick up the sound of gunfire and alert police.

The alerts showed that multiple shots had been fired. While officers were on the way, they were told that five people may have been involved.

When officers arrived, they spoke with several people in the area. Police said those people were not cooperative and did not want to share any information.

Officers then looked at camera footage from the area. The video showed one person who appears to be involved in the incident.

Police describe that person as an African American male with a slender build. He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt with a logo or insignia across the chest, black pants, and reflective white shoes.

The footage showed him walking into the park from the direction of Cedar Street just before the shots were fired. Police said another person's name was called out at that time.

Officers were also able to speak with a witness. The witness told police that several men dressed in all black came into the area and started shooting.

The next day, Tuesday, October 6, detectives returned to follow up on the case. They found multiple spent shell casings, a handgun that had been thrown away, and other evidence.

Police have not said how many shots were fired or how many guns were used. No names have been released, and no arrests have been announced.

At this time, there are no reported victims. Police also said there is no reported damage.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Cambridge Police Department is asking anyone in the community with information to come forward.
