Princess Anne Police Arrest Teen With Loaded AR-15

Somerset County, MD - On Friday, August 28, 2026, officers with the Princess Anne Police Department arrested an 18-year-old following a pedestrian stop near Beechwood Street and Irving Street in the Town of Princess Anne, Maryland. The stop led to a firearm investigation. 

During the stop, officers discovered a loaded AR-15-style firearm concealed on the 18-year-old. The gun was identified as an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 Multi Caliber.  

At the time officers recovered the weapon, it had one round loaded in the chamber and 14 more rounds in the magazine. That means the firearm was ready to fire immediately if needed. Officers took the loaded weapon into custody along with the teen.

The 18-year-old was taken into custody without further incident. No one was hurt during the stop or the arrest.  

The teen now faces a charge of possession of a regulated firearm by a person under the age of 21. In Maryland, this charge applies because state law sets 21 as the minimum age to legally possess a regulated firearm. Additional firearm-related charges were also filed as part of the case.

After being taken into custody, the 18-year-old appeared before a District Court Commissioner, which is standard procedure following an arrest like this.

Following that appearance, the teen was held at the Somerset County Detention Center. 

Princess Anne Police have not released further details about what led to the pedestrian stop itself. As more information becomes available, we'll continue to update our readers on this story.
