Worcester County, MD - A public hearing is scheduled for May 5, 2026. Officials will discuss proposed water and wastewater rate adjustments for fiscal year 2027. The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Worcester County Government Center in Snow Hill, Maryland.

Rate increases are proposed for 10 of the 11 sanitary service areas in the county. No rate changes are proposed for the West Ocean City area. The proposed adjustments include an approximate five percent increase to the base fee.

This is a fixed charge paid by customers regardless of water usage. Updates to the billing methods for water usage are also proposed. These changes will affect both residential and commercial accounts.

These rate adjustments are intended to address rising operational costs. The funds will be used to maintain and improve the county's water and wastewater treatment systems.

Members of the public are invited to attend the hearing. Individuals wishing to speak or attend in person should call the County Administration at 410-632-1194 to pre-register.

Written comments can be submitted to wchearing@worcestermd.gov until 4:00 p.m. on May 4.

Detailed information regarding the proposed adjustments is available on the Worcester County Public Works website.
