Road Rage Argument Ends in Arrest on Academy Street
Cambridge, MD - A road rage incident in Cambridge led to an arrest Wednesday morning.
Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the area of Muir Street and Academy Street around 11:01 a.m. on June 24, 2026. The call came in as a road rage incident between two drivers.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicles involved still in the area. They began trying to talk with the people involved to figure out what happened. That's when things took a turn.
A man identified as Brian Edward Conaway, 48, of Cambridge, Maryland, started advancing toward the other person involved. He was yelling and screaming as he approached. Officers stepped in to try to calm things down.
Despite officers' efforts, Conaway kept acting in a disorderly manner. His behavior caused enough of a disturbance that a crowd started to gather around the scene. At that point, officers placed him under arrest.
Conaway was taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center following his arrest. After being evaluated, he was released on a Criminal Citation for Disorderly Conduct.
Road rage incidents can escalate quickly, and this one is a reminder of how fast a simple traffic disagreement can turn into something bigger. Thankfully, officers were able to get the situation under control before anyone was hurt.
