Salisbury Fire Displaces Three, Injures Elderly Man

Wicomico County, MD - On July 30, 2026 at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Salisbury Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Tangier Street in Salisbury, Maryland for a residential structure fire.

The fire broke out in a one story, masonry five unit row home. Neighbors first noticed the fire and reported it to 911.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Twenty five firefighters responded under one alarm.

A 75 year old victim was removed from the unit where the fire started. Firefighters carried the victim out to waiting medical crews.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for initial treatment and then was later flown by helicopter to a burn center for further care.

Two occupants from the neighboring unit were also displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting all three displaced residents.

The home had a working smoke alarm at the time of the fire.

The fire caused an estimated $5,500 in damage to the structure and $1,500 in damage to contents. The area of origin was the living room.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Deputy State Fire Marshals said they found no evidence of foul play.
