Wicomico County, MD - On November 1, 2026, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office pulled over a BMW near S. Mall Drive and Centre Road in Salisbury, Maryland. An 18-year-old Salisbury man is now facing handgun charges after a deputy found a loaded gun with an illegal Glock switch inside the car.

The man has been identified as Jim'my Jasir Louis. He was the driver of the BMW.

The deputy stopped the car because of several equipment problems on the vehicle.

While the deputy was dealing with the stop, he picked up the smell of burnt marijuana. He then spoke with the driver, who was identified as Louis.

The smell gave the deputy probable cause to search the BMW. That means the deputy had enough reason under the law to look through the car without a warrant.

During the search, the deputy found a Glock 34 handgun under the driver's floor mat. The gun was loaded and was sitting right under the spot where Louis had been sitting, according to the sheriff's office.

The 9mm handgun had something extra attached to it. It was fitted with an illegal add-on part known as a Glock switch.

A Glock switch is made to turn a semiautomatic handgun into a fully automatic one. That means the gun can keep firing as long as the trigger is held down, instead of one shot for each pull.

Investigators also found that the serial numbers on the gun had been destroyed. Serial numbers are what police use to trace a gun back to where it came from.

The gun had a magazine that could hold up to 30 rounds. There were seven rounds of 9mm ammunition loaded in it when deputies found it.

Louis was arrested at the scene. Deputies took him to the Wicomico County Detention Center.

There, he was charged with a number of handgun-related offenses.
