Seaford Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust

Seaford, DE - On July 24, 2026, at approximately 8:12 p.m., an officer with the Seaford Police Department stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was identified as James Marks.

While speaking with Marks, the officer asked for consent to search the vehicle. Marks agreed, and the search turned up drug paraphernalia.

Marks was then detained. He began acting in a suspicious manner and resisted when officers tried to search him.

Marks was placed in a patrol vehicle and taken to the Seaford Police Department. When officers removed him from the vehicle at the station, they found suspected drugs near where he had been sitting.

A further search turned up 3.54 grams of suspected heroin, 11 oxycodone pills, and 4.9 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Officers also recovered $1,410 in suspected drug proceeds.

Marks was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, tier 2 quantity, a felony. He also faces two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance tier 2 quantity, and tampering with physical evidence, all felonies.

Additional charges include resisting arrest, three counts of drug paraphernalia, expired tags, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Marks was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $69,700 secured bail.
