Search for 4-Year-Old Pocomoke City Child Ends in Tragedy

Pocomoke City, MD - On July 26, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to assist the Pocomoke City Police Department in a search for a missing 4-year-old child. The search took place in Pocomoke City, Maryland.

The child was located a short time later. Despite life-saving efforts from law enforcement and EMS crews, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office's County Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case. Officials say no further details will be released while the investigation remains active.

The sheriff's office asked the community to keep the child's family, loved ones, and all first responders in their thoughts during this difficult time.
