SHA Starts Safety Project at US 13, MD 366 in Pocomoke

Pocomoke City, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is starting a construction project at the US 13 (Ocean Highway) and MD 366 (Stockton Road) intersection in Pocomoke City. The $451,616 project is meant to improve safety and traffic flow at that intersection.

Preliminary work has already begun. The main construction phase will start next week.

The project will convert the existing traffic control beacons into a full traffic signal. Signal control will be added to all movements at the intersection.

Crews will also update signage and pavement markings. LED "Red Signal Ahead" signs will be installed before the intersection to give drivers extra warning.

The work is expected to be finished by the end of 2026, weather permitting. Crews will work Mondays through Fridays, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Drivers should expect single lane closures during that time. Traffic will be guided through the work zone with cones and arrow boards.

Motorists should plan for delays during work hours. SHA is asking drivers to stay alert and watch for reduced speed limits and changing traffic patterns in the area.

The contractor on the project is Lumin8 Mid-Atlantic LLC, doing business as Rommel Infrastructure of Linthicum. SHA reminds drivers that it is against the law not to slow down and move over in work zones.
