Shoplifting Suspect Arrested at Cambridge Goodwill for Theft and Drug Paraphernalia
Cambridge, MD - On April 10, 2026, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Cambridge Police Officers responded to a reported theft in progress at the Goodwill located at 732 Cambridge Marketplace Blvd.
Upon arrival, officers were directed by store employees to a suspect who was placing merchandise into his backpack. The subject was then observed exiting the store without paying for the items.
The suspect was contacted by officers and identified as 58-year-old Gerald Lamont Ervin of Cambridge, MD. Ervin was immediately placed under arrest at the scene. During a subsequent search of his person, a smoking device containing cocaine residue was discovered.
Further investigation revealed that an active Dorchester County District Court Bench Warrant was on file for Ervin. This warrant was issued for a Failure to Appear in Court on April 1, 2026, regarding an original charge of Theft Less Than $100.
Ervin was officially charged with Theft of $100 to $1,500 and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia. He was issued Criminal Citations for the new charges and was subsequently released on a $2,000 bond for the outstanding warrant.
