Stolen Gun Recovered from Wicomico Middle School Student

Wicomico County, MD - A firearms investigation at Wicomico Middle School has led to the arrest of two students after a stolen gun made its way onto school grounds.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office launched the investigation on June 2, 2026, after receiving a tip from Wicomico County Public Schools. Officials learned that a 15-year-old student allegedly stole a firearm from a Virginia residence over the weekend.

According to investigators, the teen brought the stolen gun to school on June 1, 2026, and handed it off to a 14-year-old fellow student. Once school officials became aware of the situation, they immediately contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies tracked down the 14-year-old and recovered the stolen firearm at the juvenile's residence. The teen was taken into custody and released to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.

The 15-year-old was taken into custody on June 3, 2026, and will also be referred to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.

The 15-year-old faces the following charges:

  • Regulated Firearm: Stolen
  • Dangerous Weapon on School Property
  • Possession of Firearm/Minor
  • Regulated Firearm - Unlawful Sale/Transfer
  • Regulated Firearm - Illegal Transfer


The 14-year-old faces the following charges:

  • Dangerous Weapon on School Property
  • Possession of Firearm/Minor
  • Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession
  • Illegal Possession of Ammunition
  • Regulated Firearm - Unlawful Sale/Transfer

The investigation remains ongoing. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says it is working closely with Wicomico County Public Schools and remains committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and the community.
