Stolen SUV Found Burned Near Federalsburg

Caroline County, MD - On September 28, 2026, at approximately 7:14 a.m., a vehicle fire was reported in the area of Hickory Hill Road and Guard Road in Federalsburg, Caroline County, Maryland.

A passerby found the burned SUV while on a rural dirt road. The fire had already gone out on its own before anyone found it.

No fire department responded to the scene, since the fire self-extinguished before it was discovered. The vehicle was a 2026 Infinity GX-60 crossover SUV. It is considered a total loss, with damage estimated by the State Fire Marshals Office at $50,000.

Investigators say the fire started inside the passenger compartment. The preliminary cause is listed as incendiary, meaning the fire is believed to have been set on purpose.

The SUV had been reported stolen out of Baltimore County.
