Structure Fire Displaces Five Residents in Cambridge

Cambridge, MD - On April 12, 2026, at approximately 5:44 p.m., a structure fire was reported in the 800 block of Allen Street in Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland.

The fire originated in the interior of a 20-foot by 15-foot shed and subsequently extended to a one-story, single-family dwelling.

The Rescue Fire Company served as the primary responding department with the assistance of surrounding agencies. A total of 35 firefighters responded to the single-alarm incident and brought the fire under control within 45 minutes.

Neighbors initially discovered the fire, and smoke alarms within the residence were present and activated.

The incident resulted in the displacement of five individuals, who are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross. Estimated financial losses are reported at $80,000 for the structure and $20,000 for the contents.
