Suspect Arrested Following Physical Disturbance on Cornish Drive

Cambridge, MD - On March 2, 2026, at approximately 7:43 a.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to a physical disturbance. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Cornish Drive.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim. The victim reported being involved in an ongoing argument with Manuel Oliveras-Ortiz, 28, of Cambridge, Maryland. The dispute reportedly began at approximately 3:00 a.m. The situation eventually escalated into a physical altercation.

According to the report, the victim was struck multiple times in the head with a metal box. The victim was also pulled from a countertop and punched repeatedly.

Additionally, the victim reported being bitten by Oliveras-Ortiz. Officers on the scene observed visible signs of injury on the victim.

Oliveras-Ortiz was placed under arrest and transported to the police department for processing. He was later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and held without bond. Oliveras-Ortiz has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
