Ocean City, MD - At approximately 1:47 a.m. on August 17, officers with the Ocean City Police Department responded to a motel near 71st Street for a reported armed robbery. A motel employee told officers a suspect walked into the front lobby, pointed a knife at him, and demanded money. The suspect then left and was last seen walking northbound on Coastal Highway.

The victim gave officers a description of the suspect. Investigators with the Ocean City Police Department's Arrest & Detection Section reviewed that description and identified the suspect as Troy Evans.

Officers learned Evans had been released from the Public Safety Building just four hours earlier.

He had been arrested on August 16 for an open container violation near 44th Street and released on his personal recognizance.

Officers canvassed the area and found Evans in the 10-block of 87th Street around 2:20 a.m. He was placed under arrest. Officers found two knives and cash on him.

Troy Evans, 47, who has no fixed address, was charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft under $100, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He appeared before a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was held without bond. Evans was transferred to the Worcester County Jail.
