Talbot County, MD - The Talbot County Sheriff's Office opened its doors for a spooky night of fun this past weekend. More than 520 people came out for the first Cuffs, Coffins & Cops haunted house, which was held on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The event took place at the Sheriff's Office on Mary's Court in Easton. It was free for everyone who attended, and the crowd turned out a little bigger than the Sheriff's Office expected.

The haunted house started as an idea from Major Steve Elliott. Sheriff Joe Gamble backed the plan, and the two saw it as a chance to invite the community over for a fun and lighthearted evening.

Once the word got out, people were quick to lend a hand. What started as a simple idea soon turned into a large project with many people working together.

Mike and Sharri Bibb played a big part in setting the scene. The couple let the Sheriff's Office use all of their lights and decorations, and they also handled the setup and decorating themselves.

Food was a big hit with the crowd. Sonny Jones of the Easton Volunteer Fire Company brought his grill and cooked hundreds of hot dogs, which were served with chips and water.

Simmons Market of Cambridge gave the hot dogs and buns for the night. Jimmy Higgins of Clean Spot donated a portable restroom for guests to use.

Gannon Farms also pitched in by donating hay bales. The bales were placed around a blow-up movie screen that was set up for the event.

Several county offices helped get the building ready. That list includes the Department of Emergency Services, the Department of Human Resources, the State's Attorney's Office and Facilities Maintenance.

The Sheriff's Office said the people involved appeared to enjoy themselves. Leaders were also pleased with how well county workers and residents connected throughout the night.

Since this was the first year for Cuffs, Coffins & Cops, it is being called the first annual event. The Sheriff's Office thanked everyone who helped out, took part or simply came by to spend the evening with them.
