Teen Shot Near Seaford Boat Ramp Dies at Hospital

Sussex County, DE - A 17-year-old from Laurel, Delaware, is dead after being shot near a Seaford boat ramp Thursday night. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation.

Troopers were called to the 24000 block of German Road in Seaford, Delaware, just before 9 p.m. on May 21, 2026. When they arrived, they found the teen behind the wheel with a gunshot wound and immediately began life-saving measures.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His name has not been released while authorities work to notify his family.

Detectives have learned the shooting happened near the Concord Pond boat ramp on German Road. The suspect is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

The case was turned over to the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit due to the nature of the incident. That unit is handling all aspects of the investigation going forward.
