Third Arrest Made in Christmas Eve 2024 Dover Homicide

Dover, DE - The U.S. Marshals Service and Dover Police made a third arrest this week in connection with a Christmas Eve 2024 shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy. A 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Thursday.

The shooting happened north of North Little Creek Road in Dover, Delaware on Dec. 24, 2024. The victim was sitting inside a parked vehicle when he was struck by gunfire.

He was first taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment. He was later flown to a hospital in New Castle County, where he died from his injuries on Dec. 27, 2024.

Dover Police continued investigating the case throughout the following months. On Aug. 10, 2026, they obtained an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old suspect.

The suspect was arrested without incident at his home in Pennsylvania. Members of the U.S. Marshals Middle Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force and First State Fugitive Task Force made the arrest, with help from Dover Police detectives.

Once he is extradited to Delaware, the suspect will face several charges. These include second-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18, and possession of ammunition by a person under 18.

This marks the third arrest in the case. Dover Police arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, both of Dover, Delaware on Dec. 28, 2024, in connection with the shooting.

The investigation began after Dover Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area on Dec. 24, 2024. Police have not released further details on the circumstances surrounding the case.
