Wicomico County, MD - On October 29, 2026, at approximately 3:35 p.m., the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on North Salisbury Boulevard and Dagsboro Road in Salisbury, Maryland.

A Virginia man is now facing drug and gun charges after deputies say they found a loaded handgun and marijuana packed for sale in his car. The man has been identified as Shane Dalton Kellam.

It all started when a deputy saw a white Lincoln Town Car make a left turn across several lanes of traffic. According to the sheriff's office, the turn almost caused a crash.

The deputy pulled the Lincoln over and spoke with the driver. That driver was Shane Dalton Kellam.

While deputies were on the stop, they say they saw drug items in plain view inside the car. They also found a loaded Glock .45-caliber handgun.

Maryland State Police came out to help. A K-9 unit from the sheriff's office also helped with the search.

Deputies say they seized about 145.59 grams of suspected marijuana. That's a little over 5 ounces. They also took digital scales, two cell phones, and other items they are holding as evidence.

Kellam was arrested and taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center to be processed. He's charged with possession with intent to distribute cannabis.

Adults 21 and older in Maryland can legally have up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis. Selling it without a license is still against the law.

Kellam is also facing handgun charges in connection with the gun found in the car.
