Trash Fire Quickly Contained at Salisbury Apartments

Salisbury, MD - On August 26, 2026, at approximately 10:02 PM, the Salisbury Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of Fairground Drive in Salisbury, Maryland for a trash fire.

The fire broke out on the exterior of a garden style apartment building. A passerby noticed the flames and called it in.

Ten firefighters responded to the scene as a single alarm fire. Crews were able to get the fire under control in about one minute.

Fire officials say the preliminary cause was accidental, tied to careless smoking. The investigation is considered closed at this time based on that finding.

Fires like this are a good reminder for residents to properly dispose of cigarettes and smoking materials, especially near buildings. A small spark near dry debris or trash can spread fast.
