Salisbury, MD - Renovations are now underway at the Truitt Community Center in Salisbury, Maryland, bringing long-awaited upgrades to one of the city's most well-used community spaces.

The renovation project focuses on improvements inside the gymnasium. Workers are installing new insulation in the walls and ceiling, along with wall padding and metal wall coverings. These changes are designed to create a more durable and functional space for recreational use.

The gym officially closed on May 4 to allow contractors to complete the work. It is expected to reopen by the end of June.

Muir Boda spoke about what the upgrades will mean for the community. "These upgrades will provide a more updated, suitable space for the community," he said. "We're looking forward to reopening the gym and welcoming residents back into an improved environment."

Mayor Randy Taylor also weighed in on the project, highlighting the city's commitment to investing in its residents. "This is part of the City of Salisbury's ongoing commitment to providing quality community center facilities," he said. "An investment in kids is vital to a successful city."

Beyond the physical renovations, the center is also planning to roll out a new rental reservation system in early July. The system will make it easier for community members and organizations to book the facility for events and activities.

The Truitt Community Center has long served as a gathering place for Salisbury residents of all ages. These improvements are aimed at keeping it a strong resource for recreation, connection, and community life for years to come.
