Two Arrested for Second-Degree Assault Following Altercation in Cambridge

Cambridge, MD - On April 11, 2026, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Cambridge Police Officers responded to a reported assault on the 1200 block of Chestnut Place.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with two individuals. The subjects were identified as 24-year-old Lorenzia Shaarnell Smith and 21-year-old Malachi Tyree Wilson, both residents of Cambridge, Maryland.

A preliminary investigation determined that a verbal dispute occurred between the two subjects upon arriving at the residence. The altercation subsequently became physical.

Both Smith and Wilson stated to officers that they were assaulted by the other individual.

Investigating officers observed visible signs of injury on both subjects at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, both Smith and Wilson were placed under arrest. They were each charged with second-degree assault.

Smith was later released on her personal recognizance. Wilson was transported and held at the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on a $3,000 bond.
